Welcome to Supermarket Nutrition! If you are here, I am hoping you are interested in making better choices at the supermarket. Supermarket Nutrition was started as a site to educate consumers about healthier food items at the grocery store and bring awareness to supermarket dietitians, innovative retailers and programs, and better for you brands. I believe what you put in your grocery cart impacts your health. I invite you to push your cart with me down the aisle of better health. Make sure you subscribe to the newsletter for the latest in supermarket nutrition. If you are a retailer, supermarket dietitian or a food industry rep, please look under my services tab for more information.

Your Cart Coach
Betsy Ramirez, M.Ed., R.D., was one of only a handful of registered dietitians at the beginning of the supermarket nutrition program movement. She worked for one of the nation’s largest retailers building and branding a multi tiered marketing campaign, working directly with merchandisers to increase sales and a category by collaborating with produce and natural food manufacturers. Betsy brought her nutrition knowledge to grocery shoppers as the star of Kroger’s “Eat Healthy, Be Healthy” commercials that ran in 3 major markets. Strong customer loyalty and increased sales resulted from this profitable program, countless supermarket tours, cooking classes, and community events.
Betsy’s experience building a successful retail dietitian program from scratch makes her a reliable and trusted resource for grocery retailers, manufacturers, public relations firms, and the media. She appeared in ongoing television commercials throughout Tennessee and Kentucky for over 2 years. She has contributed to cooking and health segments on local television stations in Tennessee (WKRN, WSMV, & Channel 5 News) and Kentucky (WHAS, WBKO, & WKYT). Betsy has continued her love of retail dietetics by working with brands in developing creative Dietitian Toolkits.
In 2015, Betsy was the first Dietitian to complete the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic’s Training Program for Retail Dietetics. She recently just moved back to the states from living in Europe for 3 years, exploring international health trends and exploring supermarkets. She currently lives in Louisiana with her husband, 2 kids, and her adorable dog, Coco.
